I feel like I could comment on every blog of your's and say, "man, the deep thoughts you gave out there, Alex!" They are awesome and so glad you share them with us! Then I remind myself....his blog is "Thoughts on the Run," so your deep thoughts are very fitting!

Right on Alex! We think things are hard until we push past them, then all of a sudden they were just part of the progress. Remember the first long runs? 16 & 18 milers seemed nearly impossible, but toward the end of the training they weren't anything out of the ordinary.

Interesting approach - everything I do is to avoid chaos, but you're right that sometimes it's chaos that makes us the most efficient and tends to be something that we harness our efforts to. Great post Alex! Thanks for the good read. Can't wait to read the book...

Running, walking, swimming, biking ... always good to unplug and let the mind/body refocus back to what's important. Keep me updated on your progress as it would be great to get together for a run!

Nicely put Alex. You always tie in business, real world and running so nicely! I try my best not to text while driving...especially when the kids are in the car since they're watching and learning from me and I certainly don't want them to think that texting behind the wheel is good. I have noticed though, how we've lost our ability to interact with humans. It seems almost hard to look someone in the eye when talking with them. We're so used to staring at a screen instead.

Right now it's -13 degrees so all of my runs are on the treadmill :) In order to fit in running into my life, I have to do it during the week which means before my 7a conf calls. Once a month I try to get outside onto a trail run to get away from the world.
